Watch out for the thorns - they're fond of clothing as well as my notes.. If I update something, you'll know about it.

Of Summer Break and bad timing ...

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why you don't get too comfortable. Murphy /will/ shove his long nose in.

Looks like we're moving again ...
Why? Well, in addition to all the other (minor, really) things, like the Great Dishwasher Debacle (we're going on five weeks now, and they have only /just/ removed the faulty machine - we've been trying not to actually /cook/), Musical Managers and a few other 'Details' - the final straw is tied to someone's /nose/.
Someone, in this case, being Ms. Supervisor, who informed us a week or so back that there was a 'bad smell' around the area of our apartment (no more information than that. Just 'a bad smell'), and she'd like to investigate. Okay, we said, but it will have to wait until we're home - we're a little paranoid about people in the place while we're gone.
Okay, she says - I'll come in tomorrow, midafternoon.
This is last couple days of school, mind you - but we moved the clearing up job to the top of the list and settled in to wait. Midafternoon rolls 'round and the maintenance guy shows up (and tells us the DW is kaput, and that Ms. Supervisor will not, in fact, be able to make it. Something Has Come Up). We will leave aside the rudeness of not informing us (by then, the /only/ way she could have improved the impression she left us with would have been to refund a month's rent and apoligise on her knees - and even that might not have been enough), and go right to today, when the manager (an otherwise nice guy who's caught /smack/ in the middle of this, poor boy), clues us in that she's talking eviction notices. Kiss my WHAT?!
... I think what I actually said, and in roughly that tone of voice was, "What?!" Apparently, our attempts to rid the place of this mysterious smell haven't been good enough ... (we'd do better if we knew what sort of smell we were talking about here - and Andi says nobody is 'cooking' anything that /he/ can smell. And in fact, none of us - that includes myself and Andi, Mr. Manager (heh), and my Mom - can figure out what kind of smell we're talking about here. We also can't figure out, since as far as we are aware Ms. Supervisor has not been in the apartment (and if she has, after agreeing to wait, we /will/ have Words), what makes her think we /haven't/ been trying to do something about this unspecified smell.

The short version is, between one thing and another, Andi's tired of the bullshit and is prepping Teeth. I don't want to move again before classes start, but it looks like that's what will happen....
However, since there are three other apartments in this particular hallway, I want to know why /we/ are being focused on - particularly for something as unprovable as a 'smell' - in a badly ventilated apartment, with a faulty (for the past month and a quarter) dishwasher and old pipes... I /really/ don't think that's gonna fly, ladies and gentlemen....

Slightly better news, I discovered that there is a Costco practically around the corner from this place. Possibly close enough to make a Costco card cost-effective.... ^^;

Overall, this latest load of crap has Andi upset, me upset - and it's not doing either of us any good. Means the proposed site updates that I've been planning will also have to wait, as I will no doubt be busy to the ears packing. Again.... I /hate/ this.

Of a long frickin' month ....

And snakes. On planes. Oh /gods/. I CANNOT believe we were actually bored enough to go and see that ....
But, damnit, I thought it was funny. ^^
It was so wrong, and so bad it was hilariously funny, and the whole theatre cracked up on that one line. Hell, I was mouthing it right along with him, and willing to bet I wasn't the only one.
Right. Set your suspension of disbelief outside the door and go in with your sense of humour and snark-alert set on high. You won't regret it. ^^
(The first three people to bite it all had me cheering. They died soooo appropriately...)

Anyway. What else has been going on. Lessee. I have discovered what might be a new hobby (oh, let's not kid ourselves. I /want/ one of these! (link opens in new window) - why? Because! It's Aksha!). There has been beading going on - once I find out what the nice lady did with 'em, I may post one or two. ^^;

School's out for the season, and the Lair is in process of moving - it can now be found here. Broken links left, right and sideways. I am also rebuilding the Alcove, and probably linking it in someplace. Yes, the main part will still be PW protected, so you people who aren't old enough to know just how deep my twisted little mind actually goes, don't get your hopes up.
Alcove updates will, as usual, be hosted in the Creative Vortex - and the link will, as usual, open in a new window - in Friends Only posts. Naturally, I'll post warnings.

I'm working on getting the scanner back up and running - between a bad HD crash, and some moving of things around, I don't know how long that will take (that, and I haven't had a chance to reload Corel - I'm fighting #$@%^&! Adobe PS ... I am still dubious as to whether or not I like it. Wanna say no, but I've been saying that for years..... it's not as intuitive as Corel, that's for damn sure...
